Starting out at the age of 13 as a Saturday girl in a local hairdressers Angela knew straight away that this would be her vocation but never in a million years did she think she would ever get to where she is today. Within five years she had started her own salon in Gran Canaria where she overcome the language barrier and found herself up against a sea of red tape and resistance to the progressive English style of hairdressing.
On her return to the UK she became the first female Toni & Guy franchisee in the companies history. Entering into this largely male dominated environment she was determined to demonstrate she was up to the task, Eight Franchises later she has certainly proven she has it what was need and a whole lot more.
Her ever impressive determination and entrepreneurial skills combined with those of her husband Neil have resulted in rapid business expansion and substantial investment.
Her flagship salon, located in the trendy Met Quarter in Liverpool is now a multi million pound business and second only in turnover to the Canary Wharf based T&G and she is also the first hairdresser to attach an award wining coffee shop and deli to a salon.
Brought up in a family with a seriously alcoholic father, Angela’s home life was traumatic to say the least but what she didn’t realise then was that she would also be in great demand as a motivational speaker at Conventions and Prisons as an adult child of an addicted parent.
Other speech subjects include:
• The struggle to have children – Angela was eventually successful but she still underwent eight years of fertility treatment including IVF. She now has two daughters five and seven, works full time (which horrifies the school gate brigade) and loves life.
• The trial and tribulations of attempting to expand business overseas - Angela had plans to open franchises in Madrid and Barcelona but eventually threw in the towel due to red tape restrictions.
• Why makeovers really work, choosing the best wedding hair styles , taking the nightmare out of buying a wig, wig fitting and dressing, and why this is so useful for people having to face life without their own hair.
• Becoming a property developer – Angela has bought 5 buy to let apartments off plan and a house in Florida , which has been an eye opener for her.
Media wise Angela worked on a nationwide tour with Trinny and Suzannah helping women who had been out of the work place for some time prepare for interview and she is often asked for her expert opinion on a variety of subjects. She still styles a number of clients hair and her celebrity customers include Shirley Bassey, Leslie Garrett and Lisa Tarbuck plus many of the Liverpool and Everton players and their partners.
She is a regular session stylist for Vivien Westwood, Cricket, OK magazine and is the Current North West Hairdresser of the year.
