Alison’s career in broadcast journalism began in local radio in Birmingham, after which she was head-hunted by Radio 1’s "Newsbeat" programme in 1986. Alison has been Senior Reporter/Presenter for Carlton TV’s Central News at Six and is currently based in London as their Westminster correspondent.

She has also done stints as a reporter for ITN News at Ten and Sky News. During this time she has reported on riots and murder trials interviewed celebrities and foreign dignitaries and she was the newsreader on duty at Broadcasting House in London on the night of the Lockerbie aircrash.

In the Midlands, she has covered the kidnapping of baby Abbie Humphries, the death of Diana, Princess of Wales and has flown to Belize, Central America, for a feature on the Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters Army Regiment.

But life in a regional newsroom has a lighter side too; Alison has interviewed the stars of the local Panto and become acquainted with a host of furry animals.

Alison won the ITV network's Reporter of the Year award and the award for News Feature of the Award in April 2006.
