Graduating with a degree in Retail Marketing, Melissa started out as a Brand Manager where she spent four years in various consumer marketing departments. Realising that her passion was in helping others she left her job and joined a relocation company helping people relocate their lives into the UK and realise their dreams.
Her enthusiasm and drive led to her first TV job where in 2002 she was cherry-picked to front a new BBC Two primetime series “Get a New Life” which helped British families start a brand new life abroad. This series played to Melissa's strengths as a property expert, travel addict and all-round people person!
Her other shows to date include Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, To Buy or Not To Buy and Countryfile, Summer Diaries for BBC1, Escape to the Country and Get a New Life for BBC2, and Fly to Buy for UKTV. Her latest series is ‘Britain's Dream Homes’ for BBC2.
Never one to turn down a challenge, she has successfully branched out into property and travel writing, modelling, voice over work and hosting live events and awards ceremonies.
Recent publications include the Mail on Sunday, Moneywise, Homes Overseas, City AM and Sky Magazine.
A successful business woman Melissa owns a property renovation company with Charlie Smurfitt and the diligent duo provide a complete bespoke design and renovation service to discerning clients.
When Melissa’s not working she likes to indulge in her two other passions, travel and sports. In the past two years she’s been lucky enough to require two passports to house all her ‘countries visited’ stamps! She enjoys tennis, motoring, sailing, water skiing and black runs on snow, to put it simply she likes to keep herself busy and have fun!
She has recently branched out into high performance coaching and she is working on a book for teenagers, which teaches them performance enhancing techniques which can be applied when considering their university/career options.
Her warmth and experience makes her a popular choice for corporate work and her past experience includes B&Q Recognition Awards, Daily Mail Property Awards and exhibitions such as BBC Good Homes, Invest in Property and Viva Espana.
