Author, Broadcaster and Journalist Sue Hayward is usually paid to talk for a living but somehow managed to keep quiet for long enough to write her first book, ‘Women Leading’ which has just been published. Taking a new approach to leadership it knocks the idea on the head that women can only get to the top by ‘being one of the boys’ and adopting a male macho style of command.
When she’s not keeping quiet and writing books and magazine features Sue’s a guest presenter on BBC local radio stations covering live consumer phone ins, breakfast shows, afternoons, mid-mornings and weekends. She’s also frequently interviewed on consumer issues and her TV appearances include a stint on BBC TV’s ‘The Club’ as personal finance expert and as Consumer Correspondent for BBC Look East. From the glamorous world of TV when Sue was last seen filming in floods in a hastily bought pair of wellies to wine tasting and belly dancing live on radio (yes it can be done!) Sue’s happy to have a go at most things but is never spotted without her lipstick, even in a radio studio!
Sue writes for many of the national women’s magazines including She, Family Circle, Woman and Woman’s Weekly and over the years has contributed to titles including Real, Glamour, Good Housekeeping, Essentials, Bella, Woman & Home, Goodtimes and Best. As a working Mum Sue’s had her fair share of working Mum nightmares and has written for parenting magazines including Rightstart, Prima Baby and WH Smith Family Magazine.
Sue developed her love of money and all things consumer as a reporter with BBC Business Programmes on Financial World Tonight, Wake Up To Money and Moneycheck on BBC Radio Five Live. Then came money features for the Daily Express, Sunday Times and Moneywise Magazine before Sue became the regular money columnist for Bella magazine before contributing to a range of women’s titles. As a consumer specialist Sue’s worked on projects with high profile companies including Direct Line, Abbey, Moto and Tesco and has advised smaller companies on public relations and media training.
Sue presents daily on women in the property market on Overseas property TV (Sky channel)
