Alycia Smith-Howard, PhD is a Shakespeare scholar, theatre director, performance historian and columnist. She’s served as a Shakespeare specialist around the globe for a diverse range of plays, films, competitions, radio & television programmes, including "Antiques Roadshow" (she holds the rare distinction of being Fiona Bruce's "Shakespeare-Scholar-On-Call").

Alycia earned her PhD and MA from The Shakespeare Institute, Stratford-upon-Avon, England. She’s the author of three successful works of non-fiction including Studio Shakespeare: The Royal Shakespeare Company at The Other Place (Ashgate, 2007) and the deliciously titled, The Food of Love: The Taste of Shakespeare in Four Seasons (Graficas, 2013).

Dr. Smith-Howard’s book, Studio Shakespeare: The Royal Shakespeare Company at The Other Place is a landmark treatise on the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2007, it was shortlisted for the “Theatre Book Prize” by the Society of Theatre Research (London, UK) and selected for the Victoria & Albert Museum’s “Essential Shakespeare Reading List”. Her Shakespeare cookbook, The Food of Love, co-authored with award-winning chef, Alan Deegan, is a modern take on delicacies of Shakespeare for the contemporary kitchen.

Currently, Dr. Smith-Howard lectures for such organisations as The British Council, The National Trust, BADA (British American Drama Academy), Open University Shakespeare Society, The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, The Royal Shakespeare Company, HF Holidays, Women’s Institutes, CAPA International Education, amongst others. Her previous academic appointments include faculty positions in Shakespeare studies at New York University and the Folger Shakespeare Library.

Alycia publishes regularly in print and online. She is a regular contributor to such magazines as Warwickshire Life that feature her popular and amusing monthly column, "Notes from a Shakespeare Diva". Currently, she is working on the biography of international renowned Voice Director, Cicely Berry, OBE, and a book about Shakespeare’s cultural legacy in America.
